Six internationally recognized artists contributed original works for this year’s NatureBridge gala fund-raising auction in San Francisco. A nonprofit educational organization, NatureBridge provides hands-on environmental science experiences to some 30,000 students and teachers annually. Their “classrooms” are six of the most magnificent national parks on earth.
For this year’s fund-raiser, NatureBridge commissioned designer Kit Hinrichs to develop an exclusive series of limited edition prints that could be sold at auction. Hinrichs proposed inviting six of the world’s leading artists –Anna and Elena Balbusso, Milan; Jeffery Fisher, London, Martin Haake, Berlin; Jody Hewgill, Toronto; John Mattos, San Francisco, and Nancy Stahl, New York City –to create a fine art print, one for each of the six national parks in the program. Each original art piece was turned into a single 40”x60” signed giclee print, archivally mounted and framed. The artist’s original sketches were included as part of the winning bid. In addition to the giclee prints, five portfolio sets of 20”x30” posters were produced, with plans to auction them at a later date.
